The paper analyses the European Pharmaceutical Package from the perspective of access to medicinal products in the European Union. Its main objective is to assess whether the proposed reform can effectively reduce inequalities in access to therapies, given that key decisions concerning pricing, reimbursement and the organisation of healthcare systems remain within the Member States. The paper distinguishes three dimensions of access to medicinal products: formal, market and economic access. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the European Pharmaceutical Package may primarily strengthen formal access and, to some extent, market access, while its impact on economic access remains limited.
