The author presents selected issues related to the regulations of the first modern code of criminal procedure in Poland, issued in 1928 and essentially based on the French procedure model. The author lists the creators of the code as prominent Polish scholars, judges, and barristers. She devotes the main analysis to the procedural principles applicable to the new Polish trial. She considers in detail, among other things, the principle of arraignment, legality, oral and open trial directness, free consideration of evidence, and lay participation in court proceedings. The author explains which procedural principles referred directly to the French model and which were based on regulations from other European countries.
